Earthworm communities in organic and conventional coffee cultivation PAB
Bartz,Marie Luise Carolina; Brown,George Gardner; Pasini,Amarildo; Fernandes,Juliana de Oliveira; Curmi,Pierre; Dorioz,Julie; Ralisch,Ricardo.
The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of organic and conventional coffee crops on biomass, population density and diversity of earthworms, in Lerroville, district of Londrina County, Paraná state, Brazil. Earthworm communities were sampled in three areas with organic coffee cultivation (CO1, CO2 and CO3), two with conventional coffee (CC1 and CC2), and a native forest fragment (MT). The soil of the areas CO1, CC1, and MT was classified as Nitossolo Vermelho (Rhodic Kandiudox), while CO2, CO3, and CC2 were on Latossolo Vermelho (Rhodic Hapludox). Eight samples were taken in each area on two occasions, winter and summer, using the Tropical Soil Biology and Fertility (TSBF) method in the 0-20 cm soil layer. The earthworms were handsorted and...

Evapotranspiration and crop coefficients of corn in monoculture and intercropped with jack bean AGRIAMBI
Araújo,Mário S. P. de; Sousa,Elias F. de; Pereira,Vinícius R.; Ferreira,Fernando H. A.; Carvalho,Daniel F. de.
ABSTRACT This study was carried out to determine the evapotranspiration (ETc) and crop coefficients (Kc) for four stages of “Caatingueiro” corn under the climate condition of Seropédica, RJ, Brazil, using weighing lysimeters. The field trial occurred in 2015, from March 18 to June 25, in two areas cultivated with “Caatingueiro’ corn intercropped with jack bean and in monoculture. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was estimated by the FAO-56 Penman-Monteith model and the Kc values were determined by the ratio between ETc and ETo. The Kc values obtained for the intercropping and monoculture systems, were respectively: 0.78 (I); 1.01 (II); 1.10 (III) and 1.01 (IV), and 0.62 (I); 0.92 (II); 1.27 (III) and 0.81 (IV), and they were different from the values...

Green manuring with Calotropis procera for the production of coriander in two growing seasons Ciência e Agrotecnologia
Souza,Ênio Gomes Flôr; Souza,Almir Rogerio Evangelista de; Soares,Enielson Bezerra; Barros Júnior,Aurélio Paes; Silveira,Lindomar Maria da; Bezerra Neto,Francisco.
ABSTRACT The use of spontaneous species of the Caatinga biome can contribute significantly to the nutritional demand of vegetable crops, thereby providing an agroecological and sustainable form of production. The objective of this research was to determine the effects of different biomasses of Calotropis procera (rooster tree) and times of incorporation into the soil of green manure during two growing seasons on the agronomic performance of coriander cv. Verdão produced in Serra Talhada, a semi-arid region of Pernambuco, Brazil. The experimental design was randomized blocks with three replications. The treatments were arranged in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme, with the first factor consisting of biomass amounts of C. procera (5.4, 8.8, 12.2 and 15.6 t ha-1 on a...

Mini tomato production in organic system under greenhouse with partial control of meteorological elements AGRIAMBI
Araujo,Haroldo F. de; Leal,Paulo A. M.; Zorzeto,Thais Q.; Nunes,Eduardo F.; Betin,Pâmela S..
ABSTRACT The objective of this research was to evaluate the meteorological elements of the environments and the production components of mini tomato crop in organic system in different forms of cultivation, biofertilizer doses and technological levels of protected environments. The research was conducted in completely randomized design in a 3 x 2 x 5 factorial scheme, corresponding to three greenhouses (A - climatized, B - mobile screen and C - fixed screen), two forms of cultivation (pots and beds) and five doses of a commercial biofertilizer (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200% of dose indicated), with five replicates. The treatments affected the analyzed variables, except for biofertilizer doses and interaction of treatments. Air temperature was unchanged among...

Physicochemical characterization and sensory evaluation of lettuce cultivated in three growing systems Horticultura Brasileira
Fontana,Larissa; Rossi,Claudia A; Hubinger,Silviane Z; Ferreira,Marcos D; Spoto,Marta H F; Sala,Fernando C; Verruma-Bernardi,Marta R.
ABSTRACT There exists a growing demand and promising market for new lettuce varieties in Brazil. Cv. Brunella is an innovative lettuce variety which mixes crisp lettuce and head lettuce characteristics besides being adapted to the Brazilian growing conditions. The physicochemical and sensory quality of this lettuce, cultivated under different growing systems, was evaluated. The conventional planting and the hydroponic systems were carried out in the experimental area of the Universidade Federal de São Carlos, São Paulo State, Brazil and the organic system was done by certified organic producer in the municipality of Cordeirópolis. After harvesting, leaf area, leaf size, unit leaf area, fresh mass, mass loss, turgor pressure, instrumental color, pH, total...

Sprout density for the production of organic mini-cabbage from mother plant regrowth Ciência Rural
Souza,Jacimar Luis de; Guarçoni,Rogério Carvalho; Favarato,Luiz Fernando; Angeletti,Maria da Penha; Bahiense,Douglas Vianna; Ribeiro,Camila de Souza.
ABSTRACT: The method of producing organic mini-cabbages from regrowth of mother-plant was initiated at the Unidade de Referência em Agroecologia of the Incaper in 2013, possibly acting as an efficient alternative for the obtainment of cabbages with a more adequate average weight for the desires of the modern consumer. The aim of this study was to define sprout density in the mother plant, which allows better productivity and commercial standards for organic mini-cabbages. The experiment was developed during the period from September to November 2015, using the F1 Shinsei hybrid, in a design with randomized blocks, with five replications. Sprout density was determined following thinning, constituting the following treatments: two, three, four, five and six...
